Students were mentored by their teachers, university mathematicians, industrial scientists and engineers, graduate students, and in many cases, their parents, to develop exceptional mathematical research projects.
Boston University Provost David Campbell gave welcoming remarks to a diverse crowd of 700 guests, including Lawrence Superintendent Wilfredo Laboy, Waltham Mayor Jeannette McCarthy, visiting scientists from AstraZeneca, Alkermes, Polaroid and Raytheon who served as Math Fair judges and mentors, not to mention the hundreds of very proud students, teachers, parents and grand parents.
