One of the goals of Focus on Mathematics is to have all students do a "mathematically significant" project as part of their high school mathematics training. The goal is for them to have the experience of "using" mathematics.
While still months away, the district Math Fairs and Math Expo will be upon us before we know it. In this seminar, we will consider all aspects of what makes a successful research project. The seminar will include discussion by experienced mentors and reviewers. We will spend time thinking about how to evaluate projects and discuss rubrics. Best of all, we'll spend a large part of the time working on projects ourselves.
Bring questions about mathematics! This seminar will be hands-on and appropriate for all grade levels. Anyone interested in student research projects should not miss this seminar!
